Do my captures or voice notes ever leave my device?
No. HumanMap runs entirely on your iPhone — there is no account and no cloud. Everyone you capture, everything you say, and every note stays on your device and is never uploaded. Your memories never leave your iPhone. The only network connection the app makes is to Apple and RevenueCat to manage an optional subscription, and it carries none of your personal data.
How do I capture someone?
One tap, then just speak — say who you met and anything you want to remember, and you are done in a few seconds. There are no forms and no required fields. On-device AI turns what you said into a person you can find again later.
Do I have to give everyone a name?
No. Names are optional. People can live in HumanMap indefinitely as a bundle of descriptions — for example "gym guy, crypto, Egyptian accent." When you learn more, you can name or merge people later. Naming and merging never interrupt capturing.
What is the night sky, and what do the colors mean?
Every person you capture becomes a star in a living night sky. Light temperature encodes how well you know someone: people you have named glow with warm starlight, while people you have not named yet appear as cooler, softer, out-of-focus lights. Naming someone sweeps their light from cool to warm.
Is my voice recording stored or sent anywhere?
Your speech is transcribed on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Audio is processed on-device and is never sent to us or anyone else.
What is free, and what is included in Pro?
The full capture flow, the night sky, the Naming, the review inbox, basic search, and up to 50 people are free. Pro unlocks unlimited people, natural-language search that explains why each person matched, smart resurfacing of people you have not followed up with, the ambient sound layer, and the Daylight (light) theme.
How much does Pro cost?
Pro is $2.99 per month (no trial), or $19.99 per year with a 7-day free trial. There is also a one-time lifetime purchase of $39.99. Final pricing is shown in the app before you buy and may vary by region.
How do I restore a purchase or cancel my subscription?
Use Restore Purchases inside the app's Settings to restore a previous purchase. To cancel a subscription, go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your device. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. You can export an encrypted copy of your data from Settings, delete any individual person, or use "Erase Everything" to remove all of your data at once. Deleting the app also removes everything, since nothing is stored anywhere but your device.
Can I lock the app so no one else can see it?
Yes. You can optionally lock HumanMap behind Face ID from Settings, so your private memory of people stays yours alone.
Which devices does HumanMap support?
HumanMap requires iOS 26 or later and is built for iPhone. Its core experience relies on Apple's on-device intelligence and modern iOS capabilities, which is why it targets the latest iOS.
Why does HumanMap need microphone, location, or calendar access?
Every permission is optional and requested only in the moment you use the feature that needs it. The microphone lets you capture by speaking; location lets you note where you met someone; and calendar lets you attach the event you were at. All of it is used and stored only on your device.
